what flies to use

Hey guys, I live near a small river and noticed over the past few days that there have been a lot of cart tailing near the gravel bar I visited.

Stan,

I assume you mean carp instead of “cart”. In any case, any crayfish imitations should work fine. It’s more about the presentation then anything. You have to put the fly right in front of them, and if they are tailing, it shouldn’t be that difficult to have one take a well presented fly.

I have had luck recently on #12 peach or orange egg patterns.

Finding feeding fish is definately the key – try Whitlock’s carp flie and for extra action, dip the fly in Vanilla for twice as many eats.
