Neil Houlding had asked me to come down for the day and cover the event. Not being a Spey guy I thought why not, chance to meet some people, put forum names to faces and as it turned out, enjoy a great day (albeit it long). All told (post procesing about 18hrs)

Zach wasn’t sure which forum to dump this in, if you prefer move it to the photography forum.

    Courtney Ogilvie

    The Chaills were there

    Found some Grubs

Simon Gawesworth..I could watch him cast all day long

Even the Stones made an appearance

Event organisor Randy Wilson ( major props), estimate was over200 attendees and this is all his doing and volunteer work with April Vokey

Crew of fly max films. Behind the scenes people never get props.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to Randy Wilson for putting on the Spey Clave….if you weren’t there you shouldn’t have been….Randy did an incredible job of pulling this together….great instructors….great learning opportunity. What really impressed me most was how this type of event can bring so many together….to share this great sport of fly fishing in all its aspects. There was hands on teaching available from any one of many certified instructors….with lots of opportunities to “test drive” a rod or two….to actually get out on the water (remembering that the water level was so high and algae count was too)….great food….and lots of friends (new and old)….just a great overall expeience….what fly fishing should be all about!!!!!

….and yes, I’m going over to the spey side…well at least part way any way LOL LOL….any way, THANKS AGAIN Randy for all you did….hear it’s all ready being planned for next year….and great that so many volunteered to help out whether flipping burgers or parking cars or whatever….and Randy also raised a lot of money for a very worthy program involving kids and fishing run by the Waterloo Regional Police.

There were over 200 people in attendance. Visitors were there from BC, Idaho, New Jersey, Ohio and even Arkansas.

P.S. John…great photos of Clave….on here and on website….loved the shot of Neil and I talking (didn’t realize it was you or I would’ve said HI)

Tim pretty sure Randy organises one in the fall as well as the spring.
Heres the link to his site for it. Bookmark it and use it for the falls event, or next springs. The general impression I got from talkingand overhearing people is that most (if not all) plan to come back next year, so theres every reason to beleive it will be as successful.

Make a weekend of it, and the upper Grand Brown fishery is a short drive for something to on the sunday before heading home
