It’s been a while since I demoed any new rods with the thought to buy.

The Scott G2 #4 is a sweet rod, very forgiving, but still has a bit of zing.
    I think they’re a worth successor to the G’s.

If you like the SLT, and are looking for something new, you should also have a cast of the ZXL’s, I have the 2 and the 8’6 #3 and both are brilliant.
The 8’6 #3 does nymphs easy, but I still use the shorter 2 a lot on tighter streams.

    Hey Abe –

I have done quite a bit of brushwhacking with both 8’8″ rods and 7’6″ rods in conditions like you see in the Smokies.

Well heck, you guys aren’t doing much to enable my financial irresponsibility.

Jim Lepage claimed in the latest catalog that his made him a better caster, so, if that helps….

I love mine, hands down my favorite rod I own. If I had the money I would buy one in every weight. And I hear ya on the gold trim. I wish they would have used any other color, but with a gold Batt. LA

Abe…if you’re looking at a small stream four weight and want to look at a different Scott then give the “F” series a look.

Yes…it’s fiberglass…but these are a snappy little fly rod.  This series is the most graphite feeling fiberglass rod I’ve ever messed around with.  They are on the fast side of glass but when you hook a fish you can feel it into the cork.

I have the seven foot three weight and they also make a seven and a half foot four weight.  Worth a look.
