A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Straight off the plane and down to a town in the Central South Island.
I caught up with Joel and Debbie around 2 in the afternoon and it was a blue sky day. Whipped them up to a wee stream at the head of the lake and it was WINDY :-[ 🙁
I thought you wouldn’t know how windy it was but then realised Joel’s neck thingy was at right angles because of it.
Welcome to NZ eh :-[ 😉
Like troupers they hung in there with me and finally snared a wee rainbow before beer a clock.
Cracker couple.
Next morning was a bit of exploring for me too and we went to a funny wee stream and jumped the fence.
Joel spotted and nailed this guy on the dry.
Not a big fish but a worthy opponent in a new stream. We had a few more come to the fly and Joel did a nice impossible cast or two but no more on the bank for piccies.
Wonderful fishing with a terrific couple and looking forward to this coming weekend where we will hook up on my patch down South.
Heres the view from the back of my truck that morning.

and a pic of he stream we fished in the arvo in between wind gusts.

I’m sure you’ll see Joel or hear from him shortly too.Mar 30, 2009 at 6:40 am #34989

Simon ChuMemberCaught up with Joel and Debbie on the weekend.
They grabbed a spot on one of our tailwaters, the Waiau and opened their accounts with some nice fish on the dry.
I tried the next day to show them some paddock fishing but the bloomin fish had their mouths closed.
Thank goodness Joel and Debbie smile so much!
Introduced them to the dreaded Northwester too.
We finally had the stars align and got some nice ones on Sunday. By the end of the day they were spotting them from 60ft away!
No doubt Joel will post his own when he returns in a couple of days time.
Thanks for a great time guys.

Simon ChuMemberNice! What a cool deal this is. Just to refresh my recollection, Simon, you did meet Joel via this website, right? This is why I started this place.
Excellent posts, folks.
Zach
Sure did Zach, and to be honest I think I’ve now met a heap of cool folk through your board and had some great discourse. (got to meet you and Phil to eh! 🙂 ) Can’t beat making new friends and taking the opportunity to fish together. 😎

MemberThis board is how I met Joel as well. I think this board is how Cameron met Joel too. Hmm. A blind John could see this pattern.
Let’s face it, loveable guy, but he’s an IA whore.
Bwahahahahahahaha!!!
Welcome home JT. I’ll see you in a few days, in MT.

Joel ThompsonMemberI am back and finally caught up with work emails. Over a hundred of them waiting for me upon my return! >:( The internet is a little weak in NZ so I didn’t even bother checking them while I was there.
I am posting my report soon. I warn you all it is a short novel but the it is a story that had to be told. It will be up soon!
Joel
PS- Simon great photos and thanks for taking great care of us while we were there!
