Repaired my canoe

It’s been a while since I’ve used the West System but I seem to remember that the epoxy will leave a greasy film once it cures. If adding a second coat I think you are supposed to “wash” the greasy film off with an ammonia and water solution.

DaveZ could probably weigh in here.

Yes sir. If you let epoxy cure it will develop a residue that can affect the adhesion of the later coats.

I planned to hit it with acetone post-sanding and I will probably re-blush the edges just in case any epoxy runs outside my tape lines.

Actually, this being a rather large canoe, lately we have been poling it.

That is good information, I didn’t know there is now a way to glue to PE.

I plan on living forever, so far so good.

In sanding it post-application, I did get a “pilling” effect off the Kevlar.
