Drake Film Festival in the Virginia / Washington DC area

Hey folks..  just posting this here as an invite to anyone who wants to see the film tour.  We’re hosting the movie in our area Tuesday March 31st and Wed April 1st.

it was more short clips/teases for full length movies.

there are a few i want to buy, the kamchatka (sp?) one for sure and there was a black and white/dark film that reminded me of the tibor n. images per the pod cast.

i was so close to winning some of those raffles too!

there were def. fewer people this year. not sure if it was due to a two night stint or other factors.

Caught the film festival here in Toronto couple of weeks ago — whether clips or teasers it certainly motivated you to want to go fishing — although I must admit a fly fishing film festival is not the best place for a first date with a non-angler > well, at least I did find out whether she could put up with a crazy fly fisherman or not (guess when she left before the intermission that told the tale) — oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained BUT the films are pretty incredible — I’ll be going again when the tour hits Burlington, Ontario later this month

I chose to do 2 nights for a few reasons…
-The sold out at the door plus online tickets combined last year
-I had a TON of people complaining they didn’t get to see the film last year because they sold out
-They did almost NO advertising for the event last year
-I sent info out to 4 major universities in the area
-We blasted this event several times
-I personally pushed this event to everyone at every event we’ve done
-I’m a fly fishing junkie and reached out to anyone and everyone about it…  even people that don’t fish.

We had a good crowd both nights, but not even CLOSE to selling out.  Next year I’m only doing 1 day.  A lot of people didn’t follow thru with what they told me they’d do in regards to helping us reach out, and a bunch of people that told me they were coming did not (that includes a couple of clubs and organizations)

Either way, we had fun, laughs were had, tales were told, and beer wuz drunk.

Gotta wait three more weeks for the tour to hit Austin 😛  But I am super excited it is coming to Austin this year 🙂
