MemberMy wife and daughter went to visit her family in MS this past week and then I was fortunate enough to meet up with them this past weekend in TN for some fishing. I fished most the East Prong of Little River all of Friday afternoon and caught nothing. The water was still pretty cold from the recent snow. There was still a lot of snow and ice in the higher eleations when I drove through the park from NC that morning. Saturday I decided to start on the West Prong of Little River instead since its easier for me to catch fish there than the East Prong. After fishing a little while with little success I switched to the faithful Helgramite with some split shot and selectively fished deeper pools. That was the ticket for me. I fished that right for about an hour and a half and caught 8 fish. Every deep hole I stopped at produced a bite. The biggest I got to hand was a bow about 9-9 1/2″ and had one get off at my feet that was closer to 11″. Since things were going well I decided to head back to the East Prong and see if I could end the day with some nice fish there, but to no avail. All my favorite spots weren’t producing for me. There was a lot of people out fishing, so I know I was fishing behind folks in some places, but thats not a good enough excuse. I’m an average fisherman at best, but I can usually fool a couple East Prong trout. It just wasn’t meant to be this time. The weather couldn’t have been better. Unfortunately I didn’t have the courage to carry my new camera with me while fishing so my fish pictures are from my Pentax W30. I did however get some pics with the new gear. Hope you guys enjoy.
Ice on the rock walls up around Newfound Gap.

A few of my first attempts at moving water on the East Prong. Unfortunately I don’t have a circ polarizer yet so I know these aren’t that great.

The food & trout truck shot. PB&J on the tailgate with doritos, chips ahoy and cherry pepsi.

Pretty West prong bow.

Best fish to hand. Unfortunately I had a water drop on thelens when I took the picture.

***EDIT***
I forgot a few pictures from Saturday evening when me and my wife drove through Cades Cove.

MemberI need to get into GSMNP for a backpacking and fishing trip. I spend alot of time on the Hiwassee here in TN and down on the Toccoa in GA. Some nice tailwater fishing for the Southeast.
