MemberOpinions on Fishing shows, come on I know a few on here watch them~
Yes I admit, I am a TV fish junkie….well when I can’t get out that rare weekend they’re on. Also since I work from home, I’m a sucker for Top fishing shows on. What are they and why should I watch them?
Many of you may be picky, me I watch em all since most of them can catch fish, yes a few “Bite” but more good than bad shows out there~
Familiar Waters

Mike Pawlawski has a hit for sure! This show covers it all, from Alaska, Canada, Wyoming to my favorite…Saltwater fishing in Belize and Florida! This former Tampa Bay QB does it all! ****Fishing Adventurer
http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tv/news/story?page=g_tv_desc_Fishing_Adventurer
From reel screaming shark in New York to explosive snapper in Western Africa and hard hitting yellowfin in Costa Rica. Cyril Chauquet is a die hard fisherman and worth watching! ***The Saltwater Experiencehttp://www.saltwaterexperience.com
Capt Tom Rowland and Rich Tudor have the Saltwater show! Capt Tom mentioned the other day that his show was #1 on Versus, I see why! I watch this every week of the year & when I can’t his incredible website has real-time for each episode. Capt Tom is a great fisherman, eager to help others & truly a genuine guy from what I’ve encountered! Use that Scott rod more though ****Tarpon of Bocahttp://www.outdoorchannel.com/Shows/TarponOfBoca.aspx
Just as the name implies this show is nonstop action fishing the Boca Grande Pass in it’s Prime! Lot’s of action, sorry no fly fishing, but plenty of Silvers to druel over! **TU Trout Unlimited’s on The Rise

Frank Smethurst has done a great job with this show in his 2nd year. I spoke to him recently and discussed how much I enjoyed his work and what Barrett production has done with it. Just would like to see bigger Trout and can’t wait for his beast brown in the April episode ***Spanish Fly

Jose is the mackdaddy of Salt outside of Flip Pallot in my opinion. I have been watching Jose for years and still think his show is truly on of the best and he’s a huge fly fisherman, hence the name “Spanish Fly”Fly Fishing The World

This is a good show that was formerly fly fish america. The travels Barrett takes now are pretty sweet. The Patagonia episodes to New zealand make it worth watching ***Legends of Rod and Reel
http://www.outdoorchannel.com/Shows/LegendsOfRodAndReel.aspx
This show is a genuine fishing show depicting all of the Fly Fishing hero’s in our era and who have made a difference in this Great sport of Ours ****Bill Dance Saltwater Show-
http://www.outdoorchannel.com/Shows/BillDanceSaltWater.aspx
Okay this one is here due to the Hilarious nature of him and Roland Martin fishing each weekend and Bill Falling out of the boat so often ** Humorous Overtone ****@Sorry Cindy Garrison’s show “Get Wild with Cindy” didn’t make it this year, yeah I know it’s getting a little less fishing and more hunting/eating strange bug type episodes..maybe next year and let’s be honest we know why we watch em ;D!

Here in Kansas City salt water fishing is the furthest thing from reality. I have zero interest in those shows and unfortunately they constitute 95% of the programming.
I would really like to see another trout fishing show that spent a little more time on the technical aspects of fishing and less on the people. I love watching skilled casters, takes, and the process of fishing. It would be nice to see a bit more instruction and information. It must be a very difficult balancing act to edit these shows into a 30 minute time slot.

MemberSportsman Journal with Andy Mill is my all-time favorite fishing show. There are no fishing shows that even come close in my humble opinion.
Favorite Quote from one of the elite episodes:
“[Andy’s banshee yell]….can you smell that poon!?” Referring to the 150 lb Tarpon he just ripped that was excreting crab sh#t all over the skiff.

MemberMaybe it is one of these, but I like the show (the part of a show) that has “Knot Wars”. In these hard times, I think many of these shows seem further removed from reality than ever before – like watching Robin Leach fishing at times. shannon

The Itinerant AnglerThe only fishing show I could really watch on ordinary TV without flicking channels was the Walker’s Cay Chronicles.

The Itinerant AnglerHonestly…I can only watch Cindy Garrison on mute.

You should see her up close…

Bob RigginsMemberI don’t get hardly any fly fishing shows locally, which I find very odd.

MemberI would agree with “The New Fly Fisher” as a very good informative show. I’d add “Sport Fishing On The Fly”, “What A Catch”, “Outdoors with Shelley and Courtney”, “Sportfishing BC”, and “Fishing Alberta” also to the list. The last four have a strong fly fishing component and all of these shows are produced here in Canada (sorry for shameless patriotic plug LOL LOL).

MemberWalker’s Cay without any doubt. It’s two bad that it got cancelled. I actually have the two lost episodes that were being shot when it was cancelled.
I have trouble watching most of the fishing shows that are on now. For the most part if it’s saltwater they are fishing for billfish or goalith grouper. Half the time the shows are back to back. There are two shows that really rub me the wrong way. The first being Offshore Adventures. Here is the basic concept of the show; I have a lot of money so watch me show it off and spear a lot of fish and eat. That sums up that show. The other show is Tred Barta’s. For whatever reason Tred really doesn’t like fly fishermen. He has been pretty vocal about it on the show.
Now don’t get me wrong there are still some good shows. I like Spanish Fly a lot, Jose is just a neat guy. TU’s On the Rise has its moments, although the steelhead episode out west irked me. Its not always about catching a steelie, anyone that is a hardcore steelhead fly fishermen can tell you about that. I thought that it was pretty sad having to resort to a spinner to stick a fish. For steelhead its about the chase. Familar Waters is pretty good as well. I do like to watch Fly Fishing the World when it is on. It’s just neat see all those exotic places that most of use dream of going. The Hunt for Big Fish is also a great show to watch. Although, I’m a little sick of that slow motion footage right when the fish comes out of the water.

Membermy favorite andy mill quote during the frying pan/toilet bowl episode
-holding a fly rod in my hand is like home-
or something like that.
watched ‘aspen extreme’ a few weeks ago, great cameo in that!does anyone remember the name of the host of the ‘fly fishing america’ where the guy drove around in a jeep cherokee and fished all over the states? i want to say that dalhberg bumped into him guiding in mongolia for the taimen hunt for big fish episode.
that was the show that got me up early on sat morning when i was in highschool.
he would end the show by writing in a journal.

Don’t forget Andy’s patented “interlocking finger high five” after he is finished “taming the beast” that just “put holes in the water the size of a Volkswagen.”
Mill is the man.

You don’t have any beef jerke or Viagra patches on your waders?
Jan 30, 2009 at 6:13 pm #33180tradd d
MemberI did but the fish and game said the Levitra patch was so bright it scares the trout, causing emotional distress and to remove, the Eagle claw treble hook patch worked fine though~
