The UPS guy just delivered one of these on Monday, and I had it out for the first time hunting ducks this morning in driving snow.

I’ve gone through a good sized pile of camera bags and pelican cases over the years, and while it’s early yet I have to say that this one may turn out to be my favorite.

Matt, how well does the D300 fit in the middle?

Neal, with an arca-swiss style plate on the bottom it’s snug enough that it doesn’t move much, but it’s not tight enough that it’s a pain to get in there.

Hi Matt, thanks for putting this up !

As ever, finding a decent pack for fishing and lugging cameras around water is real hard.
I had a Dri-zone for a while, but it was such a piece of sh*t that I found myself swearing at it streamside and cursing it’s designers, šŸ˜€ in the end I gave it to my assistant.

Can I ask if it has a decent waist belt ?

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

David- it doesn’t have a waist belt at all.

Jeez. I forgot how much those cost. They definitely appeal to the fly fisher in us. I have been overjoyed with my LowePro DZ200, but am not sure of the price difference. shannon

That looks great, Matt. Let us know how it holds up for you and if you like it as well six months from now :-). Wish it came in a cool blue or green instead of China gray.

Found a nice review on Midcurrent. Other than the price, I like what I see. Matt….any chance I could get a Nikon 70-200mm WITH body attached….into the pack? Your post prolly just cost me 300 bones.

    Drifter,

You wouldn’t be able to close the lid on the included insert, but it would fit inside the pack without any problems at all.

I’m not knoocking it in anyway way but there is now way I’d put 3 to$4000 worth of camera gear in a bag like that and expect it to stay dry in my boat. I’ve seen too many “dry” bags fail, and with electronics and glass all it takes is a little moisture and your fried or moldy.

The Stormfront Pack is pretty cool; I’m not sure if it was mentioned above but the straps come off, making it effectively a dry bag.

Last week I poured about a gallon of water out of Jarrod’s less then a year old

You definitely don’t want to submerge the zipper for an extended amount of time like that but it’ll hold water out fine during a quick dunk.

    Mike –

No, the key to the Great Divider is that it needs to stay upright.

That rubber seal is pretty chewed on mine now too but it can still be dunked.

I agree that it is a great bag Zach. I’ve got the Simms large boat bag of similar design and it also works great for keeping stuff dry. As long as you keep the zipper above the water line everything will stay nice and dry. Personally for boat use I’m looking for a pelican case now. The last lens I bought just doesn’t fit well into any of my 3 camera cases. I think I could fit everything in the Simms bag but like I said earlier I’ve seen too many leaking seams, etc, on dry bags. I’ve worked too hard, paid too much, and told the wife too many ā€œhow much did that costā€ lies to risk losing my camera gear.
