I gave my ol’ man a call hoping he was home from the fire hall bingo.   Luckily he picks up after about 2 rings.

Me: Hey Dad what’s going on?
Dad: Nothing just got home.  How did your test go Monday?
Me: Went well.  What are you doing this weekend, Mike backed out, you wanna go to Colorado with me?
    Dad:  Sure when we leaving?
Me:  I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 6.

Got to love the man’s style cowboys up for anything! Even an 18hr drive.

We enjoyed the sunrise in NE

Arrived in Canon City, CO around 3ish to find my uncle already wearing waders just rearing to hook some fish.  First stop was the Arkansas R. near Texas Creek.

Beautiful 15-19″ Browns in there.  Kinda picky though!

The next day we got up w/ the sun and headed to the North Fork of the S. Platte.  My uncle has a friend….a friend everyone should have!

My Dad even got into the act

    Had a few beers too

Well after that banner day we had about a day and a half left to try and coax a couple big browns.  Dispite hooking up numerous times with some real BAD LARRYS my dad and I each landed a decent male.

We did have a few byproducts however.

After a quick 2 1/2 day trip it was time to come home.

Now its back to the grind but sure enjoyed my time w/ the ol’ man.

Awesome report Lee!  Sounds like a great trip.  If you don’t mind me asking, where in MN are you located?  My brother went to school in Bemidji and I ran a marathon (my first) in Duluth in June.

Good to see you had a fun trip.  Your uncle’s friend sounds like a good guy to know.

    Good stuff Lee.

Was in Duluth for the first time a few years ago.  Really cool place.  North shore up by Two Harbors and beyond is really quite amazing and mind boggling for an east coaster!

Hope to get back some day.

    Agree on your fortune.
