In mid October I’ll be in Louisville, KY for a meeting so I would like to spend a day trout fishing. I’ve poked around on the net a bit and found that Otter Creek, inside and near Ft. Knox is a reasonable place to fish. Any other suggested areas that I should be considering? I plan to rent a car for the day to get around, so I’d be willing to drive an hour or so from downtown Louisville.

I work in Frankfort Kentucky on occasion and I am there right now.

Brian, Otter Creek will be your best bet at this time of year. It will be stocked in the next few days and as of today (Oct. 1st.) it is catch and release only until April 1st. There are several good pools in the park itself, but if you decide to fish Fort Knox, you will need to go to the hunt control office and purchase the post permit. I would stick to the park, more water and more fish. Good luck and I might run into you there.

Jaison and Tim – Thanks. I appreciate the input. Can either of you guys recommend a fly shop to visit while I’m in town?
