The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
I want to get the word out here. For those of you with blogs, or just friends, please feel free to cross-link or let people know this is coming. This will be your earliest look at the new products across the board at the Fly Tackle Retailer Show.

The link will be to http://www.itinerantangler.com/podcasts
This show will go live on this coming Sunday, September 14, at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time (9:00AM Pacific Time).
There will be three podcasts, each with at least five MAJOR manufacturers speaking about their products (the third show is looking like it may have several more than five).
Each show will go live at 12:00 Noon. Show #1 is on Sunday the 14th, Show #2 on Monday the 15th, and Show #3 on Tuesday the 16th.
This event is being co-sponsored by American Angler magazine and Midcurrent.com. Be sure to check Midcurrent.com for the most in-depth blog coverage from the show. Meanwhile, AmericanAngler.com will have video coverage. I will be writing the feature article to run right around Christmas for American Angler, as well.
Thanks,
ZachPS Hey guys –
The show should pop up right at noon here on the site. If I am not able to get to a connection to turn it on, there could be a delay on this site. However, iTunes WILL HAVE the show at noon eastern time – you will just need to “update podcast” to have it search for a new show. The show may not appear in the iTunes directory for a few hours but if you “update podcast,” you’ll get it immediately.

David AndersonMemberWell spotted Tim.
Maybe fly fishing, with all it’s accessories and lifestyle possibilities is now appealing to the more effeminate male ?
There have been clues to this for a while now like all the color creeping into fishing luggasge, tools and apperal, you only have to look through the Fishpond stuff to see what I mean.
Or what about zippers on waders ?
Surley a sign that the sport has gone broder than the now relatively rare hetrosexual male and now appeals to homo’s, metro’s and retro’s alike.Another pointer IMHO is also check fishing shirts from Orvis, surley no self respecting, god fesring, fishin’ huntin’ ****in’ & fightin’ straight man would be sean dead in one ?

David AndersonMember*note #1 – I’m joking of course.
*note #2 – definitions to help with the above statement.
Hetro – straight.
Homo – gay.
Retro – old.
Metro – desperate.;D

MemberYes we must have color appropriate accessories Dave! My daughter has been fishing with me a little and she wanted to know if she could get pink waders and flyline? Simms could probably get $800.00 for the waders and SA could jack the price of Pink Sharkskin flyline up to $150.00. Maybe Lauren could get us up to speed on chic centric gear OK?

MemberYou guys crack me up! ;D
And I’m probably not the lady to ask about this, but, here are my 2¢.
Put a girl-y color (read pink, purple, etc.) on technical or terminal gear made for women, and you will never get my money. Cut it to fit women, PLEASE (as in waders and coats made for hips, a waist, and breasts), but by all means go ahead and make it in the same colors as the guys’ gear. I want to be seen on the river as someone who fishes who happens to be a woman; I don’t want my technical/terminal gear to scream that I’m a woman from 300 yards. This color preference mostly extends to just the technical stuff (as in, I don’t want my waders or rain coats, rods, reels, or lines colored to suit the “female taste,” whatever that means).
I’m a-okay with girl-y colors for shirts or ski hats, but I think they look good on men, too, of all persuasions. David Anderson, you’d likely look great in a pale yellow or pastel pink flats shirt! 😉 ;D

How about Simms? My wife has an issue with her waders being a different color than mine. It is not a “girl-y color” but she still has issue with it. This is actually a good discussion to send to each of these manufacturers.
Another issue. Many fly shops just do not carry the wears for the ladies, even when the manufacturers create it. The overstock at the end of the season does not warrant keeping it in stock. My wife and I have discussed opening an Online “Fly Ladies” website just to hit the demographic.

MemberHey Kevin,
Personally, I don’t care if it is a different color from the guy’s version, so long as the color looks like something meant to be outdoorsy and not something meant to appeal to some misconception of the “feminine” fashion sense.
