MemberDid you see any new water proof bags (camera size) that look promising? How about the new William Joseph Hydro line?

Mike McKeownMemberDid you bump into any crazy South Africans at the show???
The podcasts have to be the best I have heard… well researched, well put together… Well Done, something to aspire to…

chris zandoMemberZack,
I am very interested in three new products:
1) Sage TCX
2) New Sharkskin GPX, is it the same design as the Mastery GPX (taper length, oversized, etc)? For example does the 5 weight weigh 150 grains and is 38 feet long
3) By far I am the most interested in the expanded MX line from Winston (I love green) specifically a new 9′ 4 weight BIIMX and 9 1.2 foot 6 weight.

David AndersonMemberI’m also very much waiting for the new bags and chest packs that are coming out this season and have held off buying one for months now in anticipation.
I wouldn’t mind a pack section that offers protection for camera gear and is designed to carry a bit of weight, but still has the right sort of set-up for fly gear.Zach, did you see anything that’s worth looking at from a photographic point of view ?
Also, Morsie said there’s a new 2 weight Sage ZXl and I’m dying to try one !
PS – listened to the podcasts last night – awesome and thank you !!

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

I think there was a Rio Carp line but I honestly can not remember.

MemberLando,
There is a Rio Carp line, I messed around with it the other day. It is made to make a more delicate presentation to help avoided spooking the carp.

MemberGPX is the same taper in both SS form and Mastery.

MemberWJ also had a cool magnetic clasp system that may be around for a long time to come.
Thanks Zack .. Looking forward to seeing the Simms line. A buddy that I fish with had some of the WJ magnetic clasp bags this last weekend .. I was impressed with them.

The Itinerant AnglerThe magnets I was describing are long strips of “rare earth” magnets that have been extruded to make these pockets that just leap back together.

MemberOK, here’s the deal on the WJ thing. You can pour water over the magnetic closure and it won’t go in if it is sealed all the way around. If you put it under water, it leaks. In a rainstorm, the clasp won’t leak but the standard packs will.
For a camera, the Hydro backback or chest pack will work great. For the flip down stripping basket, the pack will only leak where the double zippers come together…so yes, it will get some water in there if you stick it under water. I would not put a camera in that pack, but totally would the chest or backpack. They should be out by Jan 1 (the hydro waterproof series). Most of my dealers were very excited about them.

The Itinerant AnglerI thought the magnetic strip thing was amazing, and I’d certainly see it being used to, say, close handwarmer pockets on the side of a jacket when they weren’t in use. I wouldn’t expect them to leak at all in that situation; submersion as you say would be different.
There are a million things William Joseph could do with that idea. Rather than just limiting it to a certain line, I hope they extend the tech out across their entire product range and just use it as needed to keep zippers and bulky flaps to a minimum.
