She found us a nice cabin:

Zach-Thanks for the pointers on how to make fish appear larger!

And a few of me learning my DSLR while she learned how to cast:

Maybe in a few weeks. Now, I just need to heal so I can go find this one’s gran’ pappy!

    Nice pictures Dusty.

John-I don’t mind; it’s not like the place is a well-guarded secret anymore. Now, if we were to start discussing honey-holes, there may need to be some secrecy and a case of Shiner. It’s called the Lower Mountain Fork, located in SE Oklahoma outside of Broken Bow.

Ahhh.  I was wondering if that might be it….but it looks a lot like East Tennessee to me.  One of these days, I am going to have to make it up to the LMF.

I’ve been to Broken Bow once for a weekend retreat back in ’85.

Wow Dusty it looks like your wife and yourself had a nice trip, you and I need to make a trip like that sometime soon.

Nice set of photos Dusty !

They work well together and give me a good sense of scale.

You’re lucky if your wife wants to fish –
My wife was interested in fly fishing for a couple years before we got married, but now is happy to get rid of me for a few days.. 😉

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It certainly was a nice trip and needed relief from the Metroplex.

David, as John said, coming from you, the comment is quite meaningful. Also, you piqued my curiosity about “sense of scale.” It was certainly nothing I did purposefully, but I would be interested to hear what you have to say on the subject and how/why one does this.

I am not convinced yet that wife enjoys the fishing; maybe she has just realized that going on a trip is the only way we will ever spend time together on the weekends.

Dusty, your photography is coming along nicely.

Thank you Neal, I appreciate that. It still seems painfully slow though, especially when I see what you other guys are creating. I am thinking about chucking the job and going back to school for an MFA in Photography. Then maybe I can put up some similar work!

What Fly is that you used?

    #27846

Clouser Foxy Minnow. Bought the tail from Clouser’s shop because of the different colors between pen-raised and wild fox. He describes the differences in his book, which if you do not have I strongly suggest buying.

I feel you there David.  Tara, my wife, will ask everyonce in a while,

“Aaron, don’t you think you should go fishing, its been a couple days?”

I want to take her out on the saltwater with one of the guides, she could fish in the morning when the action’s at it’s best and then lie around on a beach for a while in the afternoon.
Some of the locations like Hervey Bay, Hinchinbrok and even Sydney harbor have great beaches where other people don’t easily get to..

We both have winter cabin fever pretty bad at the moment..
