The Itinerant AnglerHey guys –
Still looking for a big fly box (preferably waterproof) that has a little more value than the Cliff’s Bugger Beasts (which look like converted power tool boxes).

I’m sure you could figure out how to organize the inside in a way that work.

Bob RigginsMemberI don’t think this is what you are looking for, but Plano has a series of waterproof stowaway fly boxes. I use one of them on my kayak and it works good. They may be a little small for what you are looking for.

Actually there is another item on that website that looks promising:

Phil LandryMemberBob– I saw that too, but kinda figured it would be too small, but I guess you could get 2 of them and still come in under the cost of the beast.

Mark SchaferMemberHow waterproof are you talking here, I buy handgun cases at gun shows for 6-8 dollars (Doskocil) they keep things dry in the rain and would float with a light load. I’m going to weight one down tonight and drop it in the pond and see what happens.

The Itinerant AnglerWhat I really want is a CF Designs box the size of the Bugger Beast, but nothing like that exists yet.

MemberHey Zach..
how big of a box are you looking for??
I’ll post a couple of pictures of some boxes Im working on…(tomorrow)
these are big boxes and cannot be carried around in a vest… although one of them can fit in a rain jacket (or at least mine).. it perfact for those rainy night when only a few flies work.Leonard

The Itinerant AnglerWell, having researched this around the net, I think I can safely say at this point that every one of the boxes currently on the market start life in Asian factories and are intended for things like power tools.

John BennettMemberLol when you guys ( US ) start talking prices, I start crying.
A CF box here retails for between $50 and $70.00 and thats without the insert another $22 or so.
A Wheatley retails for about $100.00Jun 12, 2008 at 2:19 pm #26639
Steve K.MemberIf the folks at Clif’s were truely hardcore old school flyfishermen….they would have named it the BOOGER Beast.
