MemberDave,
I worked in a fly shop for three years, and I have to say I love SAGE Policy and their standing behind their product. What I found , and still find, challenging is the turnaround time to get a rod back to the owner after it has been sent in.

MemberI would be interested to know why the guides on a $700 rod are flaking. IMO paying another $70 to replace what seems to me like a product defect is BS. Contact Sage and see what they say. Be sure to let us know.

Bob RigginsMemberI assume the only two that are flaking are the two you bent and straightened out, so it would be hard to say is was a manufacturing defect.

Mark SchaferMemberNot to get off the subject but am I the only one that offers a loner rod to my customers and calls the manufacture for them.

MemberBob I see what your saying but when I think of Chrome flaking off a guide I think 1970’s eagle claw not $700 “modern” fishing rod. With today’s technology and for that price those guides should be pretty much indestructible. This is why I prefer to build most of my own rods.

Bob RigginsMemberI’m with you Mike.

MemberProbably won’t hurt to call up Sage and ask

MemberReturn it to Sage and get an authorised repair. You bent the guides, forced them back and obviously have damaged the chrome plating. Bend any guide enough, and it will get damaged. Even RECoils.
Best Regards,
Beechy

MemberI would never build my own rods.

MemberThat and you’d go broke from rebuilding them every time you break one.

MemberIm inching forward.. Ive talked to a local rod builder recomended by my favorite fly shop, he said he can fix them and noone would know the difference,, for 20 bucks.. tempting, but ill call sage and see what they say.. My options are starting to unfold, expensive returns are not my prefered method, definitely will not misrepresent myself, so im in kind of a tough spot.. I can afford the return, i like the helios, (which has a 30 dollar return), and I could fix the sage

MemberSince this looks to be turning into a rod-warranty thread, I’ll add that I just snapped the middle section of my 6′ St Croix AVID 4wt and the turnaround on their $40 return was under 2 weeks. I used their website to automagically generate the return label, too. Slick.
