MemberI will be spending a full week tarpon fishing in the keys. I haven’t spent a week in south Florida fishing 8 hour days ever.
Let me know what type of shoes those of you that have done this wear.
Although I am a Teva sandal wearing guy from mid April until November, I’ll not risk burning the tops off of my feet that far south.
I am looking for a non marking, comfortable, light weight boat shoe. Something that doesn’t look completely dorky is a plus.
I am also a Sasquatch, size 13 or 14 depending how they fit.
Thanks in advance,
P.J.

Memberhow bout white basketball sneakers? Make sure they have flat bottoms so your line doesn’t get caught on your shoe

MemberI spent 8 or 0 hours last summer on a skiff in the keys, for the first time, and learned a lot about clothing.

MemberWith the crocs, you get to burn your feet in a polka-dot pattern instead of the standard sandal strap tanline pattern you get with the Tevas.

You might want to consider just wearing socks on the skiff.

MemberBare feet and lots of sunscreen.Crocs when we are running between spots or I’m at the wheel but they come off when it’s my turn up front,as Craig said it’s to risky not to feel the line under your feet.
cheers

MemberI do all my fishing out of skiffs. Nothing beats bare feet. I wear socks when its really hot and sunny. For boats with molded in non-skid I wear Croc’s. If you go bare foot don’t forget the sun screen!

The Itinerant AnglerGlenn – that is a cool photo in your avatar!
My saltwater skiff experience is limited but I have been a dedicated Crocs wearer for years.

MemberI’d recommend a combination of the above, for one reason.

MemberHey guys, thanks for the replies.
First things first. Although I have purchased many pairs of crocs in the past and will undoubtedly do so in the future, I’ll not be wearing them anytime soon. 😉
My kids love them, I think they are hot s.o.b.’s and my feet move around too much in them. And they look freakin stupid, lol.

MemberWhile I haven’t worn Sperry in years and it was the standard brown leather topsider, I just hit the website and this looks like it would be a decent shoe.

I thought the same thing about crocs until I started wearing them.

MemberWhen I went to Key West I went bare foot with lots of sun screen or wore socks alone. I liked both those options as it was easy to tell if I was standing on the fly line.
