Steve K.MemberRick,
I played with Mapquest a little and found:
If you drop down through Arkansas…you can hit the White, Red and Norfolk Rivers without too much of a detour. If you go through Chattanooga, the Hiwassee River in TN is nearby.
With all that said….if you want to take the family and kids for an “entertaining” vacation and want to do a little fishing on the side…….go to Yellowstone! They’ll be happy, you’ll be happy, and your bank account will be happy. Mileage to Mouseville and YNP are about the same from Kansas City.

MemberDisney does indeed restrict all fishing on property – however, I would not let that stop you. I spent a lot of time at Disney due to work/pleasure and I would always stay on property (Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs, Yacht & Beach etc..) and I would always fish (Its phenomenal BTW). I would basically wake up 30 minutes before dawn and head out whichever body of water was the closest to my hotel. I would fish until the employees arrived around 7:30. They would always ask me to stop – but were always polite (10 days in a row was the record). I would say thanks head back to the cafeteria and grab muffins and coffee for the family. Worked like a charm.
If you are not staying on D property – I would rec finding your way to the Hyatt Grand Cypress they have a huge lake thats rarley fished and you should be able to hit 20 to 30 bass in the early am and pm throwing a Dixie Devil popper.
Of course – ANY pond regardless of size that you see in Central Florida has bass in it as well –

MemberThat’s a shame that you can’t fish on the Disney property without a guide anymore. I have been to Disney many times (mostly when my kids were younger). On one of the trips roughly 15 years ago we stayed at Fort Wilderness and I fished a bit in the lake and the canals. I took some decent bass without trying too hard.
