Bob Meiser has a rod tryout program, and for my purposes it would probably be the 13′ 6″ 7/8 mks spey rod. Outfitted with the airflow delta with five tips.. It will come with the vossler s3 reel, and is guarenteed to be balanced if he sets it up at his shop.. This is a great way to go if you dont know anytthing about spey fishing.. He is patient, polite, and honest, and knows rods and how to rig them..
To repair a section is only 60 dollars plus shipping so its quite a bit of savings ( about 400 dollars less for the setup) from the winston that i started looking at.. I will be using the rod for steelhead in idaho, and hopefully some Alaska action in the future.. He will send a try rod with reel and line, for two weeks, and if i like it it will take 60 days to produce one in his custom shop.. Two handed Speys are used to sweep rivers with heavy sink tips or swing floating flys or whatever is needed for big feisty chromes they call them .. They make a twohanded trouter in the 12′ 6″ 456 size, good for 2 o 8 pound fish that is really popular right now.. http://www.meiserflyrods.com/ Dave
