MemberWell, I haven’t posted in awhile, but since it is the typical Erie, PA weather outside (-14 degree windchill, snow, and 30 to 40 mph winds) I have a little time since I’m not on the stream.
I’ve been tying flies like a maniac waiting for the weather to break. Hey all you guys that are located or have made trips to the Lake Erie Tribs, share some pics and stories so that we can all daydream of being on the stream again sometime soon! My buddy Steve owns the Lake Erie Ultimate Angler http://www.lakeerieultimateangler.com/ and has started a Blog about his guiding, business and steelhead fishing in Erie, PA. Check it out at http://ultimateangler.blogspot.com/, and oh yeah, i’m also named on the website and it just might be me on the video that Steve posted. Well heck, it must be a cool sight then huh? Ha ha ha, i’m so modest!
Here are some pics from this year. The first is a steelie from around Christmas:

Once the weather breaks, getting ready to pound some steelies with these little guys:

I made it to the Salmon River in Pulski, NY this year. What a blast! The first is a pic of my first king salmon and the second is my streamer box which I’m looking forward to using next year. This year the water was extremely low so I didn’t get the chance to use it. We nymphed the whole two days we were there!

Pray for the weather to break in Northwestern Pennsylvania soon, I’m coming down with a case of cabin fever and going through steelhead withdrawals.
Later! Paul

MemberWhat a year for steelhead! After the low and clear stuff this fall, things really came on strong in November and stayed that way right up until the freeze. Get the flies tied and gear cleaned because it won’t be long now!

I’m sure Brett will be all over this, but I couldn’t resist. Here’s a smattering…

Joel ThompsonMemberDamn Paul! That king has some fangs on it! Great post and I know what you are goin through. Hard to get a line in the water this time of year in Montana unless you want to catch an ice berg! It’s all good though because the snow pack is looking good! I can put up with a couple more months of winter if it means good fishing all summer long!
Nice pics as well Mike!

MemberNice pictures guys.
Calling me an amateur photographer would be a drastic overstatement.

MemberWhen I swing I’ve been going with switch rods–10′-11′ in length, 8 or 9 weights using mostly skagit lines/heads.

InactiveTim,
If you are hinting about the same water you posted photos of earlier in the fall, I’m sorry to say you are mistaken. That water is incredible, but I haven’t hit it for a few years. I will give you a hint as to where that photo was taken though….meeeeeoooowwwwww.I stand corrected! There are not many tressle’s like that on the kitty…I will have to jog my memory to see if I can come up with the exact spot. Gosh I love that place in October.
Also…a question for the larger group.
For those that swing.

Memberdamn, i’m really itching to get out on the stream now!

MemberMike –
I agree with you in that swinging a streamer can be more productive given the type of water and such.

MemberThanks Tim.
I’d ditto what Feenstra said–clump it in like rams wool except take it a step further by using more clumps and tie those clumps down in more places.

MemberMan I really need to get over and fish the Erie tribs. Must be nice having the numbers over there in your favor. Until then I guess I will have to settle for the St. Joe in good old Indiana. Well at least I have Skamania to look forward to in our systems.
