A buddy of mine at his fly shop showed me TFO’s new line of rods AXIOM, and the 6 wt looked like a perfect new addition to my collection.  We both found it to feel more like a 7wt—a perfect fit for the stout smallmouth and shad-fed fat bows that I hope to be chasing–with floating and sinking lines.

This rod definitely has some backbone, and it looks like an upgrade from the TiCr, which I already liked.

Anybody have any feedback on these rods?

A buddy of mine bought a 5 weight a couple of weeks ago. I got to cast it this past weekend. Based on how the rod performed, it looks like I’ll be adding another rod to my collection.

Travis I got to cast the Axiom a few weeks back when the TFO rep. stopped by for a visit. I casted the 5wt and liked it. I thought for the price you couldn’t go wrong. That said I did think the rod felt heavy. I have been spoiled by the Z-Axis and the BIIX I guess, but I wouldn’t hesitate picking up one of these rods. They are a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion. If they made it in a 10ft 8wt. I would pick one up for a steelhead rod!
