noneMemberAlthough I don’t really collect fly caps, if I do see a nice one on a trip to the US I’ll get one.
I was wondering which fly shop has the nicest looking one?
I like caps that are:
* made by Imperial hat wear
* has a longer billAnyone care to join the discussion?
Maybe some pics might help too!Sep 23, 2007 at 9:57 pm #21380Matt Tucker
MemberI have a big head (just over 8″ hat size) and it is TOUGH to find a “One Size Fits All” cap that fits my head.

Steve K.MemberJay,
I’m sitting here reading this with my “Beartooth Plateau Outfitters” ball cap on. It’s made by Imperial (in Vietnam) and is 100% cotton. Of course it has the obligatory gold fish hook stuck on the bill ::)
I try to grab a hat from every flyshop I visit. An embroidered picture of a trout is a nice touch along with the town where the shop is located….in my case….Cooke City, MT.

Cameron MortensonMemberI know that Joel is to modest to show off his shop’s hat…so I’ll post a photograph for him.

The Itinerant AnglerThat is a cool logo.
I like the McFlyshop logo caps from Fayetteville, Arkansas, best among those I own.

noneMemberI really like this one, both color and the LONG bill.

Hmm… wonder if this fly shop still sells this hat.

noneMemberI like the Unicoi Outfitters hat. They are out of Blue Ridge, Georgia, which is also the first trip with my wife. The hat has held up well to a year of wear, and the color is good for all fishing.
Certainly a nice looking hat!
I just went to their site but couldn’t find anything on on-line shop or buying a hat.Jay

MemberI’m with Jay on the Imperial caps and my go to cap is from the old RJ Cain fly shop in Bozeman, MT. Don’t know why but just has a good fit. Being a graphic designer, I can be pretty vain when it comes to good looking designs — especially when it comes to fly shop logos! Of course I have to say I’m partial the local shop, the Driftless Angler, here in WI because…well…they’re local.
Need to figure out the photo thing so I can share photos sometime…

MemberI have the same exact cap as Matt Tucker. The neat thing about the Feather-Craft cap is the little embroidered Crackleback on the back. It starts a lot of conversation on the rivers.

clark reidMemberI collect caps… I have the Leland one too given to me by Josh Fraser and a Kaufmann’s one from Randall. I’ll start photographing some and post them… I wear them all depending on my mood so all are a bit weather beaten, but a hat has to have character.
I have a number of Cowboy hats too but usually only wear them when I’m singing… sometime wear them fishing though.
You can judge a man by the size of things which annoy him.
