Hey gang, just wanted to make a quick introduction. My name is Ryan, and I grew up and lived in Central Pennsylvania for most of my life. I’ve been fly fishing for 15 years and consider the central PA limestoners my home waters. (15 years? Sheesh. I thought I’d be better at this by now…)
I pay the bills by commercial fishing Alaska’s Bristol Bay for salmon in the summer (among other things), which gives me a chance to bum around the AK with a fly rod for a month or so after the nets are hung up for the season. I have a few Montana trips under my belt, but still consider myself woefully deprived of big Western trout. Then again… a month in Alaska every year? What the hell am I complaining about?
I’m thrilled that I finally stumbled upon this board. There’s a wealth of fairly solid information here and the temperament agrees with my own. I especially like the podcasts and discussions on subjects that often get swept under the carpet in other media. Thanks to Zach for giving us a peak into the dark underbelly of our sport.

Hey I was on Ugashik tower last summer and set netting in PWS the year before… Did I by chance meet you on Quartz creek one time?
Well I met two Ugashik guys on Quartz Creek this August. If you’re from Eagle River, I had a blast on Clear Creek, and no, I didn’t find your fly line being towed around by that big rainbow.
Small friggin’ world….
