So fishing this last weekend in SW Wisconsin allowed me to get on some decent fish.

As early as 3 weeks ago- we had major flooding in this area-but the streams are still there.

I think the rains have pushed the trout out of their usual locations- but there were still plenty around- with a couple of surprises–

I hooked into 2 brutuses (bruti?) in the usual big fish areas. And what I mean by that– is the areas that you know if you hook them you have about a 5% chance of landing them- unless you use power-pro. The spot I hooked a very nice trout out of was a dead fall/plunge pool. There was about 2′ square area to let the fly slip into effectively before becoming snagged. The stream was about 8′ wide in this area and current was dumping into a nice sized reight hand pool. Fishing downstream I let my bead head slowly go under the structure and then twitched my rod tip–BAM! Throb, throb, throb–more like THROB <

    duh………next question.

Absolutely!! One of the best parts of fly fishing is the hunt and stalk! With big boys like that it can be rewarding to know that you fooled him to take your fly.
