Excellent!  I just took out my newest rod on a small creek and had the most fun I have had fly fishing in a long time.  Landed 3 Browns and a Rainbow, on this creek a 12 incher is considered a nice fish.  14-15 are about as big as they come.  First brown pushed 11 inches and put a NICE bend in the rod.  What I enjoyed most about it was this rods amazing ability to thread a short line through a hole in canopy of trees that completely envelops this stream.  I previously fished a 8.5′ 5 weight graphite rod on this stream, a shorter rod makes all the difference in the world.  I have read both arguments on rod length for small streams, I now know that a short rod makes casting 100% easier in this situation.  Also this is my first experience with fiberglass and I cannot speak highly enough of this material and particularly this rod as I have no other experiences with fiberglass.  The rod threw a large dry with a weighted dropper nymph with ease…  I think I can honestly say this is the best rod I have ever owned and I have owned every brand you can imagine, over 30 rods in 10 years I have been fly fishing (buying and selling as I go).  Just my opinion, get out and try this rod if you haven’t yet, on a small stream if you can…   😉

Plus, you can still fish during lightning storm.

Spencer, its one of my favourites too! If David Anderson sees this thread, I’m sure he’ll share the passion too. 😉

    Yes sir,
    It’s a gem !

Glass is a great thing for a short rod, it’s sweet and very user friendly.
I have 4 of the Scott F’s and the 703 is my favorite, though I look forward to trying the new 4 on some Aussie bass when things fire up here for summer….

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Spencer…I am glad that the “F” was everything that you thought it would be.
