For most of the year, I’ve been thinking about taking a trip in mid-October up to the Smokies, maybe in the general vicinity of Gatlinburg. The general plan was that the family could enjoy the town and I could hike up into the mountains and trout fish for a day or a few. I’ve never actually had a chance to fish the streams in the mountains up there.
But as October is getting closer, I’m wondering – is this the year to do it? I’m thinking that if things have been as hot and dry there as they have been here, the little spring creeks and freestones have got to be suffering.
