Would any of you folks who are near Tennessee want to fish a bass tournament this Sunday?

Damn, I wish I wasnt in Minnesota or I’d for sure be in on this.

Buy me a plane ticket and I’m there with an 8wt and crayfish patterns!

What were the weights and the big fish?

Unfortunately, I failed to make a note of the weights, but they weren’t much different from the last “bass on the fly” tourney on Percy Priest back in May (I’m sure you remember that one, since you won it and all…  ;)).  A little bit lighter overall, I think.  As I expected, pretty much everybody caught big numbers of fish, but it was a real struggle to find fish that measured over the 14″ legal size limit.  Bass were schooling in the backs of the creeks eating small threadfin shad, and you probably could have sat on those schools and caught 50 or 60 bass by noon – but they’d all be between 10 and 13 inches.

Big fish was a bit smaller too – around 3 pounds I think.  My partner got that one – good for an 8 wt. G-Loomis Cross Current rod (sweet!).

Still fun stuff.  I’m ready to get back to some trout fishing now.
