    Hey guys –

I just got back from the Sope Creek pond; this is a little impoundment on public land inside the Chattahoochee National Forest in metro Atlanta.

Hey Zack, Tell me how to get to this pond. I have a kayak that I am busting to break in. Thanks.

Sope Creek is one of the Hooch’s public access points – it’s off Paper Mill Road in Cobb County, east of I-75 and west of GA 400.

    Oh.

So who’s crazier, the old lady or the lawyer standing on the pontoon boat fly fishing for koi?

I suppose I forgot to mention the fact that you schlepped the thing in on your back too.

Old lady’s starting to look a little smarter, eh?

I’m still saving beer cans for one of these:

maybe even this rig if I get a lucky scratch off ticket:

No shit, isn’t that crazy, my beard’s better though.

I’m pretty sure thats a hot tub up on the poling platform, right above the hammock.

Wow, that is truly a work of art.

Carter, you know, it resembles nothing so much as a stolen dock.

ha ha ha, dude I forgot about that, I wish we’d been smart enough to go make a push pole back then.

    Zach,

FWIW, I dig the cross pattern with the red thread on that Clouser. I haven’t seen them tied like that– nice looking fly.

Oh.  I just remembered this and I had to put it in here.

So I’m out in the middle of the pond in my boat, and this lady on the edge of the pond yells over “what are you looking for?”

And I yell back, “A couple of bright orange goldfish – have you seen them?”

And she replies, “Did you lose them?”

    Zach

I saw about a 6 lb, bright orange “goldfish” mixed in with the spawning carp on a big river this spring.

    Zack,

If you’re in that area, try out the pond in a subdivision called Chimney Springs.

    Thanks, Jeff, good advice.
