Cameron MortensonMemberGood Morning. Just thought I’d link to an article featuring my midge fly boxes on FlyFishOhio.com.

Joel ThompsonMemberGreat article Cameron! How long did it take you to tie all of those flies up? I’ve been wanting to get into tying up my own midge patterns but those tiny hooks can be intimidating!
One more question. I assume that is a picture of you in the article and I am just curious as to why you have a whistle around your neck? Fish call? 🙂

MemberIf you’re using Firefox, get this extension called IE Tab:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419It’s an absolute life-saver to my sanity when I come across those pages that have the mutated Internet Explorer gene.
I’ve come to accept that these micro-flies are a way of life for me.

MemberGreat aticle Cameron! Very nice Macro work. What camera are you using if I may ask? I love midging and I’ts great to see others using two nymph rigs also. I do well with them.
Thanks,
Chad

MemberThe Reef is definitely on my list of destinations to hit at some time!

MemberThat whole fishery (Grey Reeef) will blow your mind…and if you are in Northern Colorado then you have to pack up the car and head to Alcova.
The Reef is in WY-just seems like it is Colorado with all the damn Greenies.
As for the bending of midge hooks-just tie a pitzin knot into the eye of the hook-those little guys will bend out all day long if you don’t.
And I understand the whistle, but what is up with those gloves? 😉

MemberCameron will need to clarify, but I assumed the bent-out hook was the hook that was in the fish’s mouth, not the dropper.

MemberOne of my friends is a guide on the Reef…when he first suggested 3x with the tiny flies I thought he was crazy.

Cameron MortensonMemberDamn…first the whistle (safety issue)…and now the gloves (fair skin). It isn’t like I was wearing a PINK SHIRT…ha. (Sorry Zach…I couldn’t help myself)
The photograph above was of a RS-2 that bent open from the run of a pretty stout fish. Since the three of us had never been to the Reef before…we were quite surprised that these fish on the norm take you way into your backing, break off 3X, and bend or break hooks.
nemoblackdog…if you aren’t afraid of a good hike…message me. I used to live Northern Colorado right after we were married…and have a few really neat places I could share. Most involve a “moderate” hike…according to the guide books…though I’d classify them as moderate/hard.
Chad…I ended up using my wife’s point and shoot in macro setting.

The Itinerant AnglerThat’s a nice fly, and Poudre has illustrated my point from our other line of discussion nicely.
