I made an order for the Cliff Bugger Beast and had them throw in one of the Float Patches as well.  I have been thinking that this would work out nicely in the jon boat while on the pond.

The Float Patch is a fine piece of forward thinking gear from Cliff Outdoors.

    Thanks for the tip Cameron.

I’ve had a rectanglular piece of ripple foam stuck to the side of my driftboat for the same purpose. It really is convenient as I am usually in the rower’s seat and typically do not wear my fly vest. When I change flies, the patch is just an arm’s length away. I even have a selection of streamers and bass bugs that permenantly reside there.

I ended up doing the same thing by removing the foam fly holders from my Fishpond Waterdance pack to use as a boat patch. You can order the replacement foam from Fishpond for 10 bucks.

The foam comes mounted to hard plastic with velcro pre-attached to the back. I stuck some soft velcro to the side of the boat and I was in business. I’d take a picture, but the boat is several thousand miles away buried in snow.

I think the Cliff Outdoors Float Patch is about $10.

It should be pretty handy to have in the boat.

I’ve concluded that everything Cliff makes is awesome.
