Spam Issues – A Note from Zach

I’ve created this dummy account, Fireman, and I’ve given it the ability to take the forum offline in the event that we get spammed (as has been happening more frequently) and I am not around to take care of it.

If you are on the board and notice a spammer is getting out of hand, please email me or call my cell phone at 770-722-9784.

If you need any moderator help, let me know. I moderate on the NGTO Message Board if you need/want a reference. To be quite honest….I haven’t seen a need for moderators on your board. I see a bunch of good folks here and haven’t encountered any spam…..that is unless you’ve been handling the problems before we see them.

If a captcha isn’t slowing it down, maybe a topical captcha would?  Instead of identifying a weird alphanumeric string, have registrants answer a very simple flyfishing question – e.g., what type of fly is an adams?

Heh – the forum I moderate isn’t just fly fishing – there are a lot of gear guys on there too.

yeah there is supposedly a nice flat on the Navy base that used to be open to civilians most of the time if you procured some sort of special ID that would let you through but they closed it off a year or so ago.
