Koi Flies?

Anyone know anything about fishing for koi?

Just tie up something that looks like pelleted fish food. If you really want to get them, throw some real pellets in the water before you throw them the fly. 🙂

Koi are pretty omnivorous. If they were domestic, they’ll be used to pellet food. If they’ve been ‘wild’ for long, they’ll feed on whatever is common in the pond.

I keep tropical fish, and it really pisses me off when people release fish that get too big for their tanks. The environment suffers because of their bad planning.

Funny I too have recently found a small pond with a number of orange bruisers in it here in CA.

Well, I must have put a fly in front of that koi, which looks to be about 15#, somewhere in the range of two dozen times.

Genetically, koi aren’t that different from common carp.

That’s good information BD, I thought they were probably very closely related but I wasn’t sure.

We’ve got several factors here.

If it’s a park, you may want to consider a “bread ball imitation” fly.
