I gave my best fly away

This my sons first fish on a fly from the bank..
   We fished alot from the boat last year, but I wanted to be sure he knows how to fish from the bank and has the confidence to do so…  We started with a complicated set up but on the bottom of his I put a sz 16 pink lightning bug..
    He caught the first fish, as the egg pattern and midge i was using wasnt working…  I looked into my box and I had only the one 16, the rest were 18s. The fish bit it about at least 4-5 five times, but I just couldnt hold them in the current with this setup…
