MemberMy brother and I (and maybe another friend or two) are getting away next weekend for an overnight trip to the Hiwassee. Anyone from the region interested in showing up for what will probably be two cold nights of car camping and possibly some slow fishing are welcome to join us.
I might fall somewhere in the middle of the well traveled anglers on the board. That said, I still think the Hiwassee River is one of the most beautiful places to fish in North America. It is a gracful expanse of water, as much as three hundred yards wide in spots, punctuated with serrated rock croppings, and wadeable for most of its length and breadth. A pulse, or one generator, makes for perfect fishing conditions, but there are still plenty of accessible spots should both units crank up.
Drifter, Cameron, Mike, BD, FlyFishTN, Zach, anyone interested, if you’ve got the time it would be a pleasure to finally meet any of you and sit in front of a fire, drink a beer or sip whisky or camp coffee from a tin cup, swap fishing stories and photo tips, and fish dry flies and soft hackles during the days.
Here are a couple of links just in case. The first–http://hiwassee.net/ is a great source for almost daily stream conditions and fishing reports; and, the second–http://hiwasseeoutfitters.com/ provides an overview of the accomodations.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Bryan –
I think I used up all my brownie points this weekend, but if you guys plan to do it again, maybe this summer, I’d like to come up and meet you.

MemberIt’s very tempting but my Smallmouth stream should be clear by this weekend and that flood we had and this full moon should get them Brown fish moving. My plan is to go after them.

Steve K.MemberBryan,
Thanks for the invite….might be apossibility for me. My son will be home from college and wants to catch a trout. He mentioned the Hi. I was leaning toward giving the shoal bass at shot down my way. I’ll let you know if we decide on the Hiwassee. I’ll bring the Maker’s Mark

MemberMan, this is tempting…I love the Hiwassee…it has been very good to me and some of the feeder water in the Nat’l Park fish well too!
Let me see what the schedule is like and I will let you know.

MemberSounds great, fellas. For those who can’t make it–thanks for responding, and I hope the invite didn’t read like arm twisting.

MemberBryan,
Appreciate the invitation but after reviewing all my environments at work, I need to stick around and make sure everything is working properly without any hiccups after the DST change this coming weekend.
Maybe another weekend in the near future.
Steve
