I was fotunate enough to win a Scott g2, 9 ft., 5 wt. from K&K Fly Fishers’ giveaway.  It came last week (they are in Kansas and I’m in SC) and I have not had a chance to get it on the water yet.  I’ve actually given it to my wife to replace her Orvis Clearwater since I prefer a faster rod (at least it apeared slower than my XP). so I may never get a chance to throw it  :o, but I’d appreciate any comments on the rod, since I’m unfamiliar with Scott and this rod.

Thanks. And thanks again to K&K Flyfishers!

Trout Boy II…where in SC are you from?  I live outside of Columbia.  There isn’t a lot of fly fishermen (and even less fisherwomen) around here.

WOW…I hope the wife realizes what she is getting…going from a Clearwater to a G2…that is a nice step up.  The G2 line up is pretty sweet…and the Scott fly rod company seems to be keeping business gong in a good direction as well.  They make all their rods in Colorado…and the two I have (“F” and a “V2”) are great rods.

She does realize what she’s getting, in terms of $$ and reputation.  She has a nice Ross Evo to slap on this rod that I gave her last year for her birthday.

The Middle Saluda- Jones Gap Park near Greenville – has fish.

Yeah…the Saluda River flowing out of Lake Murray is a weird river that no one really cares about.

Have any of you ever striper fished in the Saldua? I am planning to try it out this summer and catch a Yardcocks series.

    Cameron,

It seems the Saluda below Lake Murray is much the same.

Just to circle back around to the original question; the Scott G2 is Scott Fly Rods’ successor to the G series, which was one of the first rods (maybe the first rod) Scott offered, and which was a perenniel favorite for 25 years.

Zach, or anyone else on the board, have you cast the shorter version of the G2, the 7’7″”? Looking for a shorter rod to fish the Smokies on backpacking trips. I borrowed a 7’6″ last time and really liked the shorter rod for the tight casting.

The 7’7s are great small stream rods.
