Not as regularly as I’d like, but I have targeted the following with flies on multiple occasions:

    1) Carp
    2) Smallmouth Bass
    3) Largemouth Bass
    4) Bream, Perch, Crappie, Rock Bass, etc.
    5) Striper (unsuccessfully, but I have over 150 hrs trying).
    6) White Bass (a blast in their run)
    7) Saltwater species

Things I plan to target extensively in the next year:

    1) Carp
    2) Longnose Gar
    3) Muskie (hopefully with MikeA)
    4) All of the above at night under underwater lights; a special project I am working on.

    I like this question.

I have had some success with:
    1) black basses (LM, redeye, spots)–started really working at it this year and it is great
    2) bream–a LOT when the beds are active
    3) white bass–can be great, but I’ve missed the peak last 2 yrs
    4) limited salt–few flounder/reds, 1 snook

    I have tried without success:
    1) carp–this will take some work, an important goal of mine
    2) stripers–first try this year, brief hookup, none to hand, I feel very good about next season

    I dream of trying:
    1) shoal bass–right in my back yard, just haven’t done it yet
    2) pike–so big, so mean
    3) peacocks–S.FL first, then S.America

There are things to catch on a fly besides trout?  Ummmmmmm…

I’d like to see a photo or two of a burbot if you have it Prairiespey.

I’ve caught the usual warmmouth suspects…striper, largemouth, smallmouth, bluegills, crappie, pike, and pickerel.

Future goal is to catch a gar out of Lake Murray.  There are many over four feet long and heavy.

A couple of Burbot images here-

We get them here during a small window in March when the temps hit 0 degC in a tailwater- they come in to feed on the tulibee that congregate below the control structure.

When you pick them up, live, they tend to turn into a fish equivalent of a cinimmon bun:))) not a great photo subject. We forcep unhook them in the water and off they go.

I,m amazed at the # and diversity of species beyond trout, folks here have taken- be
