MemberDamn, I really want a silver no. 77 large arbor but that would really work too, someone do me a favor and bid more than $200 on it.

MemberNice review. I have been all hyped on these reels since I got mine. I will be getting a few more to fill holes that are currently occupied with less than stellar examples of good gear.
The clicker is the way that it came. I read comments by the owner of the company and he said that the reason he did not put outgoing clickers on his reels was that he could not find a design that would not eventually fail. I really like a singing reel and wish this baby had a clicker, especially since it’s use is for big and fast fish.
Carter, that reel on ebay looks to be a little bit older model. When I was really researching these reels I found reports of problems with the original models. There was something with the drag plates, or maybe bearings. I don’t remember exactly what it was but, there were supposed to be problems that were addressed with newer models. Just a little heads up for ya and thanks again for doing the review.

MemberYeah, I don’t really care, I mean it didn’t really bother me or anything but it was still kind of strange when the fish ran and the reel didn’t sing.

MemberHey Steve this is cool:

I was thinking when I had your reel apart that you could design the backside of that drag knob to hold spare screws but aparantly those holes are allready threaded for them and either you or the previous owner has allready used it.
Oh, I just bought some 12 wt lines real cheap in order to make myself buy the reel and a new rod.

MemberI did not know about the extra screw. Are you sure mine doesn’t have one? Now I have to go look. If it isn’t there I am going to run down to my neighborhood hardware and get one. I just found out that the owner of the store also owns a pond that I have been wanting to get on for years. How could he refuse a loyal customer, especially when I just bought a 10 cent screw?
Very smart on the lines. I think I will do the same thing with a 4wt TT. Then in a few months I can drop the big hammer for a rehabilitative 4wt to get me back casting…she will never suspect that I had a plan all along. “Hey, I already have the line.” Thanks!

MemberUnless I’m completely blind it didn’t at the time the holes didn’t appear to have been threaded so I didn’t try to put the screw in there, maybe I should have.

MemberSorry to keep bringing this to the top but I think it makes more sense than starting new threads everytime about reels that Steve and I might be the only ones who give a damn about.

MemberThat sucks big time that they are ditching these babies. Get em while yoou can…$200.00 is about as good as it gets. If I can grab a No 4 for that I am all over it.

MemberHell the no. 4 retailed for $200 so you’ll probablly be able to get it for even less.

Memberblack spool with gold frame
Aug 16, 2006 at 12:10 am #12569steve154
Memberand the gold spool on black frame. I am going to keep them like this and switch my 8wt line to this spool and use the other one for my seldom used 9 wt and as a spare spool. You can see the huge difference in the spool porting from the old design.
