    Hey guys –

I started this thread to give Mike Anderson and any other River Hawk or Gheenoe owners out there an opportunity to consider my comments and make their own.

Mike has a River Hawk boat with a 15 horse outboard and a trolling motor.

My only comment so far is they don’t have much fish catching appeal :P.
I was on the river again tonight from 3pm till dark with perfect generation, cloudy and foggy conditions. I saw several nice Browns chasing minnows on the surface but was unable to get one to take a fly. Then I was floating by a log jam and saw another nice Brown, 4 to 5 pounds, gently rise and take something off the surface. I casted to it and it slammed my fly but quickly spat it.

    Hmm.

With the motor up and loaded about 6 to 8″ thanks to the 60″ beam”. There is a bit of Hull slap when facing wind chop but overall it is a very stealthy boat. I would think this would be a marsh monster. I’ll be happy to test it on some Redfish with you anytime!

HEY GUYS, I am new to your board

Yes the bottom is glass and pulling it over rocks does exactly what you would expect it to do to Glass. I might also add it hurts like hell to hear the scratching sounds. It’s rated for a 15 HP and it runs fine in two or more. In all the Riverhawk is a fantastic boat for river fishing. I still have my Lowe aluminum which is also a fantastic river boat. It drafts a few inches more then the RH but can take more punishment.

Both the RH and Gheenoe are great boats. The RH comes in a wider config then the Gheenoe which is why I bought it. Gheenoe has been around for a long time and is really just finding its way up here. I know when I lived in GA 15 years ago it seemed like everybody had one. I can say with certainty that if you find either in a config that suites what you’re looking for, you won’t be dissatisfied. I had a 13’ Gheenoe that two people could stand up in and cast, in fast water.

Dan you are more then welcome to come along sometime and see for yourself how the boat handles. There are a lot of times when I head to the Caney after work alone and would love some company. Shoot me an email with a phone # if you’re interested.

Is the gheenoe made of fiberglass too?

Okay, maybe this totally wrong, but I’ve heard that a Gheenoe can be done in Kevlar for several extra bucks.
