Wondering what one to buy, I do mostly nymphing with size 12 and smaller flies in medium size rivers. About 10% of my fishing is dry fly fishing I was considering a G2 in 8’8 5 weight or a E2 8’6 4 weight. Not sure what one to buy money is not that much of a factor so I’m basing this on fishing performance. Thanks for the help

    Hey Pancho –

I’d get the G2 and here’s why: both rods will handle the tasks you need them to with no problems.

I have the original G series rod in the 885, and I have a G2 in the 905 and 884 configurations, and I am constantly impressed by these rods.

Thanks for the help I am leaning towards the G2 and really have my heart set on it. Saturday brought up one more concern I landed a 24″ 5lb brown in a 250cfs river. Would a g2 have any problems with a fish like that?

I think that alot of this comes down to how much you want to spend on a rod.

    Hey Pancho –

No more than any five weight.

Thanks Zach you should come up and fish the North branch of the Potomac in Maryland it is loaded with trophy trout. I think the largest brown being near 20lbs in some serious current.
