Since we have some very good and experienced casters here, I thought I could finally get to the bottom of this.  Are 2 piece rods better casting or stronger than 4 piece rods?  It seems like this may have been the case when 4 pc rods were first coming out, but not so much anymore.  I prefer 4 pc rods simply because it is easier to manage when it is in it’s case, especially since I have a small car.  And I do some backpacking here and there.  I have really not noticed a difference between the two, but I’m not exactly a great caster either.  So what do you guys think or prefer?

I will probably never buy another 2 piece blank.

There is no really substantial difference for out and out casting any more.

If you put your rod together streamside a 2 piece will get you on the water a little faster. You could carry your 4 piece as a 2 piece when fishing locally. The only other concerns are the weight of a ferule up high and when you have more ferules it just more things to break or wear out.

The advancements in technology during the last 10 years or so have made it virtually impossible to tell the difference, in my opinion.
