Probably the coolest thing about the Nikon D70, or indeed all the so-called ‘DX’ series of cameras, is their APS-sized sensor. Just as my old Fuji takes its best pics in macro because of the smallness of its lense (8.3mm!), this camera takes wonderful shots with lenses that previously weren’t so hot. The 70-300mm G is a cheap consumer lens with poor glass, but on a tripod, and with some Photoshop TLC, it can turn out great shots. I insisted on planting sunflowers in the garden, and now the goldfinches are robbing us blind.
