Buffalo National River, Arkansas

The Buffalo National River in the north Arkansas Ozarks is one of the rarest of gems in modern rivers – a free flowing system with no dams and few human impacts from its source to its mouth. While the river is home to only mediocre smallmouth bass fishing at best, it is a spectacular float through a region that exemplifies what good management can achieve. Start your tour on the westernmost edge, near the headwaters, and explore from the elk herd of Boxley Valley all the way to the famous White River.
