Welcome to The Itinerant Angler. My name is Zach Matthews. I'm the owner and editor of this site and an outdoor writer and photographer. I am the Southeast Field Editor for Fly Fisherman magazine. Since 2006, I have been a regular contributor to a variety of outdoor publications, including American Angler, Fly Tyer, Fish & Fly, Fly Rod & Reel, Garden & Gun, Backpacker, Kentucky Afield and The Drake. Many of my past articles are available on the Articles section of this site.

I have been an FFF certified fly casting instructor since 2009. Every year, I travel to speak to TU and FFF groups, universities, and clubs. Please contact me for a list of references if you are interested in having me speak to your organization.

I started this website in April 2005. While you're here, I hope you visit the Photoblog, check out the Bulletin Board and download The Itinerant Angler Podcast. It is one of the leading fly-fishing podcasts, with close to 100 popular episodes released since 2006.

When I'm not fly fishing, shooting pictures, or typing words, I practice law with Hicks, Casey & Foster in Marietta, Georgia. I am licensed in Tennessee and Georgia.
